I Don't Believe in Talent.
I Believe in Design.
(PART 2)
Let go.
———————————
If development is designed, the first step is accepting what was already designed before we ever had a say.
We did not choose our starting point.
Our biology.
Our temperament.
The early experiences that shaped us before we were even aware of them.
Even personality — the patterns through which we experience the world — emerges from the interaction between what we inherit and what we encounter.
That is an uncomfortable idea.
We like to believe we are self-made: independent, rational, and fully in control of who we are.
But perhaps freedom does not come from pretending we are unlimited.
It comes from recognising the limits of our control.
When we stop fighting the things we never chose, we release ourselves from the impossible task of constantly reinventing ourselves.
Instead, we can recognise our tendencies, understand our patterns, and learn to work with our nature rather than against it.
Yet being shaped by forces beyond our control does not mean we are fixed.
Personality is not a final identity. It continues to evolve through the environments we enter, the challenges we face, and the relationships we build.
The paradox is this:
We find freedom not by controlling everything, but by understanding what to let go of — and where we still have room to grow.
That is where design begins.
